What's the current stereotype of public schools our right wing brothers and sisters try to spin? Public schools are filled with secular humanists who teach socialist doctrine, global warming lies, and anti-Christian values. I guess they feel alienated by public school teachers and administrators who don't allow references to God or especially Jesus and act as surrogates for Democrat(ic) political operatives. Public schools they say teach questionable theories like "evolution" and economic policies championed by Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and Lenin. Well, guess what my San Antonio area high school freshman learned today in his "Healthy Lifestyles" class?
In a lecture that started out as a lesson on the importance of maintaining your health, something the teacher learned watching his mother suffer from cancer, the topic turned to personal finances according to my son. Then, it morphed into paying taxes, and somehow the teacher started speaking about how the Democrats were printing money to devalue the currency. (Guess what channel my son's teacher watches?) Well, a student in the class asked about social security. My son says the teacher explained the system as something that started in the 30's "to help old people who had run out of money." Then, this man, who my son thinks also teaches government, said that Rick Perry, who was "fixin'" to be President, has a way of talking about Social Security. He asked the class if anyone knew what Rick Perry thought of Social Security. My son answered, "He thinks it's a ponzi scheme." The teacher acknowledged my son and then went on to explain how Social Security was a ponzi scheme in language my son did not understand. The teacher made it clear that Rick Perry was right about Social Security - in "Healthy Lifestyles" class.
Public Schools: purveyors of left wing ideology.
