Another video, this one utterly apolitical.
My pals, Spanky and the Love Handles, are on a roll. Steady gigs in Atlanta, recent triumph in New Orleans. New record out, solid product, whence comes this week's feature presentation.
While Clark and Beth and Bob were in town this weekend, I grabbed whatever oddball footage I could get of 'em and stirred it up with some older stuff, voila--the band's first video: "When I Learned to Fly."
Certainly a bit odd, I'll admit, and far from our current policy and politics, but it was fun.
(I've talked a little about Clark Vreeland and his importance to a long chain of New Orleans music here before, but in case you have no earthly idea who he is and why you should care, check out Keith Spera's piece in the Times-Picayune or my Offbeat post on his place in the pantheon.)
At any rate, the record's quite good and the video was a fine romp. I hope you enjoy them both.
