This is one of the most awesome rants against crap science evah. I was reminded of it the other night at another place I hang out.
The content I had seen Minchin do before, and it was powerful enough just with him on a stage. But the animation is just so compelling, I can't stop watching it.
The other thing that's so cool about this is that the setting is a dinner party. Presumably it's a group of friends or acquaintances connected in some way, where people might be tempted to let stupid shit slide out of some notion of civility, or because of peer-pressure to go along with the dominant view.
I don't think letting bullshit slide is the right thing for our civil society. I think it needs to be called out. Sometimes in your own dinner parties.
It's not that easy to be the one to stand up at the dinner party and say this. But man, do I love the people who do. They are the ones with real grit--the ones I want as allies.
Anyway, that's all I have on a lovely fall morning, as I'm trying to decide if I'm going to be staying around at this dinner party.
