For those followers of FOTHOM, I offer this breakdown of the Leveson Inquiry, now to be known as the Wizengamote for our faithful followers.
There will be two parts to the inquiry.
Part 1 of the Inquiry concerns the culture, practices and ethics of the press, including contacts between the press and politicians and the press and the police;
snp
Part 2 of the Inquiry concerns the extent of unlawful or improper conduct within News International, other media organisations or other organisations
Part 1 has four modules:
These are the Press and the Public; the Press and the Police; the Press and Politicians; and the Future.
The "future" will also be a feature of part 2.
Core participants are drawn from the community of victims of the hacking (at least those who want to participate), the Metropolitan police, the NI group limited which includes The Sun, The News of the World, The Times and the Sunday Times, and other media groups including the Guardian. Leveson delicately notes that the police and the media may find themselves being criticized by their actions.
As for those individuals who might be caught up in the Scandals like Ms Brooks and a Mr. Rees mentioned in this document, Leveson states:
I do not anticipate that I will be considering the specific behaviour of individuals (not least because of the pending police investigations and possible prosecutions).
Mind, not everybody is happy about the inquiry. Media Monkey reports it's the idea of "Westminster politicians [keeping] their foot on the media's throat". Monkey gets the feeling there's more where this came from.
