You don't. The Republican party and its ancillary minions, including the teabaggers, the neo-nazis, the racists, reactionaries, loony-tunes religious seven mountains dominionists, the nativists, the rich-worshipers useful idiots, and the homophobes, along with its owners, the neo-fascist corporatists, represents the darkest and most vile aspect of humanity.
We're basically talking about the institutional recognition (the Republican party) and acceptance of very sick, disturbed, hate-filled individuals (for the most part), who because of extreme ignorance on one side of the spectrum (useful idiots), and insatiable psychopathic greed on the other (corporatist ruling class, ALEC, etc), represent the regressive and oppressive forces that have always been the main contributors to the subjugation and misery of entire populations.
And before my dear Republican and/or teabagger reader complains and points out that there are "crazy people on the Left also," or that psychosis and other psychological disturbances are widespread in society, I'd like to point out that the main difference is that only the Republican party celebrates and encourages lunacy. And that, my dear friends, makes all the difference in the world.
And this stuff, of course, is irrefutable. I can prove it within 20 seconds: Man walking around with dinosaurs 6,000 years ago; seven mountain dominionism theology; government officials asking people to pray for rain to combat wild fires; prevalent and widespread deep-seated racist animus, and homophobia. We're talking about some real crazy shit here...
So my point is: Why do decent, intelligent, honorable, sane people spend so much time paying attention at what the loonies do or say? And most importantly, why are these crazies able to set the framing of many important issues in society?
Well, I know that part of it is because much of the media is owned by the "insatiable psychopathic corporatists" (ALEC, etc.) and they use that control to manipulate the public discourse. But hey, by now, don't we know that that's the deal? We should then be able to recognize that the entire mainstream media landscape is basically a propaganda machine, and it should be bypassed.
Think about this (my dear sane readers): Would you try to reason with a clinically diagnosed "crazy" person? Have you tried it? If so, then you'll know what is like to argue with an extreme reactionary loony-tune (I'm going to stop calling them conservatives, or right-wing).
It's not healthy... All the sane people news media shows (Liberals, Progressives) spend an extraordinary amount of time talking about and reporting on what the crazies are doing. If I watch Rachel, or Lawrence, or Ed, or listen to Stephanie, or Tom, or Norman, they spend an incredible amount of time talking about the outrages and lunacy on the reactionary loony-tune side (Republicans, "Conservatives").
Some would say that there is some usefulness in doing that since it exposes how truly deranged and dangerous these people are, and I think there may be some true to that.
But my impression is that that's all they (Liberal media) talk about! And if so, then we are wasting precious (air time) talking about crazy people.
And yes, it may be satisfying, and funny, and it boosts our egos by showing how intellectually superior we are. But do we really need that kind of "boost" when you're talking about people who are clearly crazy? Dinosaurs and men walking together on earth? Armageddon starting in Israel, and hence support from the extreme religious crazies in the U.S.?
It's patently clear that these people are nuts!
So my advise is, let's spend a little less time talking about what the loonies do, and say, and let's spend more time solidifying a vision for a future where enlightenment, and progress, and education, and dignity for each human being, and sustainability, and living in harmony with nature, rules the day.
I think that focusing so much on the crazies, after certain level, is a waste of precious time and resources.
