I readily admit that I'm friends with many republican voters. They don't seem to represent the republicans who have been sitting in the audience at the Republican debates. Those in the audience have proven to be against what many consider to be the core of American Values.
So far the crowd has cheered state sponsored executions along with the idea of letting an uninsured man die rather than giving him health-care. Life.
They then booed an active duty soldier stationed in Iraq, who puts his life on the line to protect the rest of our freedoms. They are against this man because he is gay. Liberty.
Finally, they booed their favorite son, Rick Perry because as a Governor of a border state, Perry allows the children of undocumented immigrants to attend Texas colleges, charging them in-state tuition (given that they've lived in Texas for required time) instead of charging them as if they were out-of-state students. Perry knows that allowing these kids to attend college will help them become productive members of society instead of forcing them to operate in the shadows of society. The crowd disapproved of allowing these kids to Pursue Happiness.
When are those in the GOP, either on stage or in the audience going to take back their party from those who fight the very values this country has promised to uphold?
I won't hold my breathe.
