Tea time! (Sir John Tenniel)
Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Herman Cain are celebrating Labor Day by going for the Jim DeMint seal of teapproval; according to
Political Wire,
Rick Perry was scheduled to attend but is returning to Texas to deal with wildfires across his state.
Apparently the prayer strategy wasn't all Texas needed. And since bullets also don't stop fires, Perry's all-purpose answers won't be helping him with that.
Mitt Romney originally planned to skip DeMint's event, but ultimately flip-flopped on that. DeMint was a 2008 Romney endorser, but has so far not endorsed anyone for 2012. And you have to figure his choice won't be Romney, despite the recent poll showing that Romney and Perry perform best against Barack Obama.
Another prominent South Carolinian who supported Romney in 2008 (and to whom he returned the favor in 2010), Nikki Haley, has also held off endorsing, and appears to be leaning toward Michele Bachmann who spent Sunday night at the governor's mansion.
