Just got off the phone regarding an interview for a job in my profession. I gave my nominal boss-to-be six hours over two days of my time, for free. Then the Holidays go by.
Crickets.
Just talked to her. "We're looking at other candidates". So she said. "The committee seems to think that you are over qualified".
I told her that I'd work for whatever they wanted to pay me. "But that's the point!" she said. I guess I seemed a bit eager.
Here I am , a person--and one of a real handful that has worked as Organist and Choirmaster at downtown Boston and Houston churches, who needs, in this economy to step down, and all these people can think of is "He won't stay".
What I do is a ministry, a vocation, not a job. How dare they. Just because when things were better, I had better jobs.
I can't get a job paying a third of what I used to make in this economy doing what I used to do in a CHRISTIAN SETTING? I am broke, and I WANT TO WORK. All they can think of is "he'll leave as soon as a better job comes up". Did they even read my CV?
They did, and they thought like Mitt Romney. I guess I don't want to work for them.
But I would LOVE to work. I applied at the supermarket. Know what they told me? "You're over qualified".
Yep. It's a great country we live in.
