No, not in the "I'm not working until I get what I want!" kind of strike.
I'm talking about a sudden public outburst of stupid, kind of strike. You know, the reason you go to a NASCAR race kind of strike.
Or when lightening strikes...agai--that kind of strike. It's something you hate to see, but it's something you have to watch.
In this particular outburst of stupid, the Tennessee Tea Party (which is, by the way, a disbanded organization in the Volunteer State) adds to the stupid by it's presentation of "Requested Legislation" to it's minions under the dome, that is the Legislators of the Tennessee State House.
It has to do with a little thing about removing any mention of slavery from all Tennessee textbooks, forthwith. Yes, really.
Follow me below the sqiggledoodlethingey fold, and let's talk about it.
A while back, the Tennessee Tea Party Express, speaking as the "official" organization of the Tennessee Tea Party order, sent a private email to its members that advised them of its demise...and rebirth.
Concluding that the Tea Party could no longer "expect to change the course of destruction" which it felt the nation was currently upon, a new group was to be formed: "The Black Robe Regiment". No, I am NOT kidding.
So, by their own admission, the Tennessee Tea Party is no more. So, who is it demanding such a list of "encumbrances upon our Liberty"?
Well, according to the offical source, the Memphis Commercial Appeal:
"Fayette County attorney Hal Rounds, the group’s lead spokesman during the news conference, said the group wants to address 'an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another.'" (Emphasis mine.)
I should also mention a sidebar poll in the article's page which reveals that 94% of MCA readers believe the Tea Party speaker is "wrong" on the issue of the question:
"Are the tea party members correct in their assertion that the Founding Fathers are treated unfairly in Tenn. history classes?"
In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson remarked that he believed that, because of the Civil Rights Act, the Democrats had lost the South for the next 30 years. Sadly, only today is that reality realized. Tennessee, long the holdout, has caved. Our federal delegation knows it. Our State Governor has governed it into existence, and our State Legislature has put every nail handed to them by ALEC into the coffin of democracy in our State.
What they all do not realize is that, at our core, we are citizens of the United States of America. It is almost overwhelming to imagine that they could lose all of these newly-minted victories in 2012. With such stupidity as this, with the basic anger of our citizenry, and with the sorry expectations of there being no one to speak for our citizens, these terrorists actually believe they have it made.
They don't. With such "demands" as these, the people of Tennessee will, in 2012, make their own statement. I, for one am going to do all I can to help them do that.
This is but a thin slice of the "demands" the Tea Party terrorists have made known to their Legislators. Of course, there are others, but I would (sadly) refer you here to read the entire story.
