I grew up in an evangelical church. I quit being a fundamentalist Christian half a lifetime ago now, but I have considered myself a Christian still, because I believe in the message of loving your neighbor as yourself that Jesus preached. I don't believe the bible is of divine origin. I think it's just a book written by people that is as full of inspirations for great good as it is full of examples of humanity's deep flaws.
I have thought for a long time now that people pick and choose what they want to take from the bible. Some find inspiration for being kind, charitable, peaceful, merciful and unselfish. Others find permission for being racist, sexist, bigoted war mongers. I think what you take from the bible reveals a lot about yourself. I think Franklin Graham revealed a lot about himself this morning as he ignored the biblical commands to not bear false witness against your neighbor by lying about the President on Morning Joe.
If you haven't seen the full clip, here it is.
Thankfully, the Morning Joe team didn't let Franklin get away with it. A couple of them were on Hardball this afternoon to express just how much they were shocked and disgusted by what Franklin did on Morning Joe.
Thank You, Morning Joe and Hardball for calling Franklin Graham out for his obscene hypocritical lying about the President!!
Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
Exodus 23:1 “You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.
