Heard about this bill on the radio this morning and was not happy. As one of those so 'undeclared' voters, my right to vote would be impacted by New Hampshire's bill HB 1595.
New Hampshire Republicans have been having their time in the sun during their 'super majority' since the last election. They have been waging war against things that just don't make a whole lot of sense (to me at least).
I found this morning's news about HB 1595 coming back to the floor (text hb 1595) a bit troubling. Current rules are that if you are 'undecided', you can vote in any state or presidential primary as long as you 'declare' yourself at the polling station the day of the primary or election. And then, as soon as you are done voting, you can return yourself back to an 'undeclared' voter. I can see why Republicans in New Hampshire are having some problem with this law. They don't like that people have a choice. Their 'solution' is to restrict people that are allowed to vote in a primary, and if you do declare, restrict the time in which you are allowed to return to 'undeclared'.
This is ridiculous. There are plenty of good reasons as to why people should be allowed to vote the way they want to. I thought this might have to do with what happened in Michigan during their primary, but the date of bill inception is back in January.
