Hats off to Media Matters. The watchdog group for the hate spewing forth from the Fright Wing Noise Machine. They have put together a couple of compilations of Rush Limbaugh's most offensive racial attacks, and his most offensive attacks on poor people. Here are some excerpts:
The 20 Worst Racial Attacks Limbaugh's Advertisers Have Sponsored
March 07, 2012 3:17 pm ET by Simon Maloy
Here's a rundown of Rush Limbaugh's many years of discriminatory attacks on minorities in general and President Obama specifically.
Attacks On Minorities
On November 15, 2011, Limbaugh defended Newt Gingrich for describing Spanish as "the language of living in a ghetto":
In my mind, there's nothing wrong with it. I don't instinctively know what's wrong with it. There is a language of the ghetto. There is a language of the barrio. And it's not good.
On September 25, 2009, Rush said of Native Americans:
"Holocaust?" Ninety million Indians? Only four million left? They all have casinos -- what's to complain about?
Racial Attacks On Obama
On September 15, 2009, while riffing on a story of a beating on a school bus, Rush said:
Obama's America, white kids getting beat up on school buses now. I mean, you put your kids on a school bus, you expect safety. But in Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering "Yay! Right on, right on, right on, right on."
On October 17, 2011, Limbaugh said of Obama's economic plan:
There's rioting in the streets now! And there's going to be more rioting in the streets because that's part of the program here. And next up there are going to be race riots, I guarantee it. Race riots are part of the plan that this regime has. That's next.
10 Of Limbaugh's Worst Advertiser-Sponsored Attacks On The Poor
March 07, 2012 4:11 pm ET by Zachary Pleat
Here are 10 of the worst smears of low-income Americans that Limbaugh's advertisers have sponsored since 2006:
On February 25, 2010, Limbaugh attacked Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) for telling a story about a woman who was forced to wear her dead sister's dentures because she did not have health insurance or the means to pay for dentures out of pocket, saying:
So if you don't have any teeth, so what? What's applesauce for? Isn't that why they make applesauce?
On February 21, 2012, Limbaugh said of low-income people:
[I]n many cases, speaking bluntly, the people that don't do well have only themselves to blame. And those who have no control over themselves are the ones we help.
On April 6, 2011, Limbaugh blasted government safety net programs and those who depend on them:
Democrats get their power by enslaving minorities through welfare. Let's just say it the way it really is. They create a class of utter dependent slaves, people who end up being addicts, who know no other way to get through the day, who know no other way to get through life. ... The Democrat Party is waiting to glom to them, and basically turn them into parasites.
On October 8, 2010, Limbaugh said about economic equality:
[S]ome people are self-starters, and some people are born lazy. Some people are born victims. Some people are just born to be slaves. Some people are born to put up with somebody else making every decision for them.
I'm not going to comment except to say how disgusting these attacks are.
