To no one's surprise Megyn Kelly and Laura Ingram got together on Fox News, which despite its trademarked slogan, is only slightly less fair and balanced than the World Wrestling Network, and took on Sandra Fluke. They did not make the mistake of calling her a "slut" or a "prostitute", but they certainly took issue with the law student's demand that the state, and thus the taxpayer, bear the cost of her and her fellow trollops' contraceptives. (trollops is my word, not theirs - but I could tell they were thinking it)
These two blonde, attractive and presumably high-paid conservative commentators let the audience know in no uncertain terms, that they, as students never expected to be handed anything. If Sandra Fluke wants contraceptives in order to make her social life a little less risky, then she should darn well get a job and pay for them herself.
They didn't mention how she was supposed to find the time to work since clearly she was spending all her non-study hours colluding with the White House to create a phony war on women in order to change the subject from religious freedom, which everyone knows Barack Obama is particularly vulnerable on. Any fool could see that Fluke/Obama forced Rush Limbaugh to insult Ms. Fluke, just so they could take phony umbrage at his 9 hour twisted sexual ranting, and of course, the lame-stream media lapped it up with a spoon.
On and on Megyn and Laura went, and so transparent and convoluted was their diatribe, that I felt compelled to rush to my computer and refute it point by point. But then I thought, why bother? Neither of these educated, accomplished women believe one word they are saying. They probably went out for an Irish Coffee afterwards and said, "another day, another load of crap we're forced to disseminate". (smart women like them use words like disseminate)
Truth be told, I don't think even Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity believe what they say half of the time. Unfortunately for us, most of Megyn/Laura/Sean/Rush's dim-witted listeners do. They want to hear nothing more than that the well-spoken, rather brave Sandra Fluke is really a cheap little tart looking to get her kicks on the taxpayer's dime. The tell-me-no-facts Fox audience is literally drooling with glee as their favorite conservative commentator reveals Obama's Machiavellian plot to eradicate religion, promote radical, black Harvard professors, kill unborn children, and according to Sarah Palin, reinstate slavery just to foment black rage. (it is Sarah Palin, so don't even try to make sense of it)
Megyn/Laura/Sean/Rush aren't paid multi-seven figure salaries to speak truth to their ill-informed and proud of it audience. They're paid to feed the flames, stoke the anger, and fuel the fear. All of us who argue with them, point out their lies and correct their misinformation might as well be spitting into the wind. When it comes right down to it, honesty, decency and integrity don't stand a chance against a really fat paycheck.
