Hey Everybody!
It's a good thing Sallie Mae is closed today because I have some DMV type anger going on here. So I owe a gazillion dollars in student loans, which is another conversation altogether. The payments come out to over $1500 monthly. About $450 of that goes to Sallie Mae. I have a problem making the payment each and every month, but usually it has nothing to do with my checking account.
Here is the email I sent them this morning after trying to make a payment:
"Hello Sxxxx,
I will be sending a copy of this email to the CFPB.
Each and every month I try to pay this account online my account is disabled. Why is that? You tell me you will open my account yet it never seems to happen. Why is that? Are you lying? Why does the phone system charge me $14 dollars to make a payment when apparently that is the only way I am allowed to pay? Why have I never received a statement from your business? How on earth am I to know my account number or balance if you refuse to provide me a statement and will not open my online account? Why do you refuse to send me a monthly bill? How am I to get me tax information I need if I am unable to log in? Are you trying make me to go into default on this loan? Is this in your business plan? I will not be paying an extra $14 dollars to make a payment and suggest someone from your institution see to these issues as I am filing an official complaint with the government (CFPB) about your spurious/usurious business practices."
Each month I must wait for my payment to become so late that the business must call me so that I can make a freaking payment. How is this ok? If I were the kind of person to stop paying these loans Sallie Mae would be the first to get the shaft. It's like they want me to go into default.
Gimme some commiseration folks! Does any body else have trouble with these people?
Namaste
