Just when you think you've heard the most ridiculous thing from a campaign, they out-ridiculous themselves.
Forget what you heard earlier today (March 21) about Romney being the "Etch-a-Sketch" candidate. That was just one of his senior advisers talking.
This afternoon, Mitt Romney, the man himself, credited George W. Bush for "keeping the country from a great depression in 2008."
No.
Really.
Here's the quote.
Hours after he secured the endorsement of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney credited his brother, President George W. Bush, with keeping the country from a great depression in 2008.
"I keep hearing the president say he's responsible for keeping the country out of a Great Depression," Romney said at a town hall in Arbutus, Maryland. "No, no, no, that was President George W. Bush and [then-Treasury Secretary] Hank Paulson."
With the economy turning around, Romney appears intent on denying President Barack Obama ownership of the recovery, as he's previously argued that any reduction in unemployment has occurred despite Obama's policies.
Arbutus. That's about two miles up the road from where I live. That explains the eerie feeling of an ungodly stupidity in the vicinity this afternoon.
Right. Bush saved the economy. The same way he killed Osama bin Laden. In absentia.
The mainstream media is still going on and on about the "Etch-A-Sketch" remark we reported earlier today. Wait until they get a hold of this bit of whimsy.
And now, a promised new Etch-A-Sketch Parody video.
