According to Orlando Local 6 news, the city of Sanford is quietly preparing for the worst in advance of the special prosecutor’s decision not to charge Zimmerman.
Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett said on Thursday he was calling in the National Guard to forcibly suppress any uprisings if necessary.
Officials said extra police officers and fire department officials are on standby. Neighboring agencies have also been asked to assist, if needed.
“You always prepare for the worst and hope for the best,” Triplett said. “We’re planning for the ‘what-if’ case scenario, and that would be to make sure that all of our citizens get the protection they pay their taxes for.”

A vigil for Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen shot by a neighborhood watch captain, will be held Monday evening at East Naples Community Park.
The vigil, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., will include a few speakers from the local NAACP chapter. Martin's death has captured national attention after the unarmed 17-year-old was shot and killed last month while walking in a gated community.
