From Mike Wallace's obituary. .
Wallace didn't just interview people. He interrogated them. He cross-examined them. Sometimes he eviscerated them pitilessly. His weapons were many: thorough research, a cocked eyebrow, a skeptical "Come on" and a question so direct it took your breath away.
Zwoof put up an early example of Mike Wallace
interrogating Ayn Rand. That diary was simply the video, plus the comment, "back when journalists use to ask hard questions."
Mike Wallace never interrogated Rush Limbaugh or any of the tea partiers. Neither has anybody else in the traditional media. The traditional media doesn't do that kind of interview anymore. It's not popular. It doesn't draw enough eyeballs. Or that's what they say anyway.
Wouldn't it be nice if someone out there interrogated members of one of the most powerful political movements. Would you like to see tea partiers put on the hotseat, and asked probing, critical, skillful questions by someone who is trained in how to ask them?
Watch this video.
Those questions are from my film, MEGA-DITTOS!!! The Tea Party Cult. I just went through from beginning to end and grabbed a sampling. As you can see, I question them about every dark corner of their belief system, from the arguably intellectual to the laughably absurd.
The film took 3 years and every resource I had. It took me a matter of hours to come up with a basic set of questions. That is the skill I started with. It took 4 months to schedule the formal interviews, and in the same time frame to visit events and get dozens of on-the-spot interviews.
It took two years to edit. I thought it would take a long time . . . several months. It took a lot longer . . . because it was just me.
With a staff of editors I could make a couple of these a year. I could cross-examine every conspiracy theorist and cult follower in America, including . . .
White supremacists,
Christian dominionists,
Birthers,
Ayn Randians,
911 conspiracy theorists,
Holocaust deniers,
you name 'em.
Have you watched the video yet? What are you waiting for? I need your help. I have mortgaged my entire life to make this film. I need people to watch it right here.
If you don't have time to watch the whole film, I've made it easy for you. Watch the condensed interrogation at the link above. It's good. Beware. It will make you want to watch the whole thing.
After you've watched the "interrogation" . . . or better yet, watched the whole thing, tell people. "Like" this on Facebook. Twitter it.
Or you can wait. Maybe CBS will hire another Mike Wallace.
