This isn't even a classic case of pot meet kettle. It's far worse. It's pot meet the thought of looking at a grainy picture of a kettle.
Scott Walker, soon to be recalled Governor of Wisconsin, is blasting one of his Democratic opponents, Kathleen Falk, for holding a $50 per ticket fundraiser in Washington DC. Srsly!
Governor Hand Out to The Big Time Monied Interests All Over the US, who has raked in millions himself, is having a hissy fit over a $50 fundraiser being hosted for one of his opponents. As Bubbanomics would aptly put it: hahahahahahaha!
"Once again, Kathleen Falk has adopted the mantra of ‘do as I say, not as I do,’" said Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews.
Falk will hold the minimum event at the home of Capitol insider John Weinfurter from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 19. It cost only $50 to attend the fundraiser and $500 to host it.
Put that up against the $1500 per plate Walker events.
Falk has been sharply critical of Walker for his numerous and often secret out-of-state fundraisers. The D.C. event is listed on Falk's website.
In fact, Walker is the first Governor since the internet became available to
not publish his schedule on his website for the public. And the only one not to make his schedule publicly available. His office posts a retrospective schedule around the middle of the following month - the last one for February which listed 44 hours of official time with the remainder listed as "personal".
Falks schedule is on her campaign website.
An aide to the Democratic candidate continued the high-pitched criticism of the first-term Republican governor for collecting bucketloads of cash outside Wisconsin.
"Gov. Walker needs to tell us what he offered Texas billionaires, Wall Street tycoons and others in return for their millions of dollars in campaign checks he's collected," said Falk spokesman Scot Ross.
Walker has upcoming events, too, which are known not from his schedule, but announcements from the event holders:
He will be in St. Louis on Friday to speak at the National Rifle Association's annual convention and in Springfield, Ill., on Tuesday to be the keynote speaker at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce's Employer Action Day.
Of course, we don't know if he'll be holding fundraisers in those places since his schedule is, you know, top secret.
If you want to know more about where the money is coming from, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has an interactive map which is awesome.
Full disclosure: I haven't made a choice yet in the Democratic recall primary although I'm leaning towards Doug LaFollette right now. Frankly, I don't care who wins it because I have my eyes on the prize - removing and replacing Scott Walker and his cronies.
Update: Even Before Publishing Edition:
Scott Walker was in Oklahoma yesterday:
The group inside the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum gave Walker a standing ovation when Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin introduced him as a "poster child for the nation in taking on tough battles."
Yes, he's their guy.
Walker said he campaigned on an aggressive, pro-jobs agenda and followed through on that promise after he was elected.
"Wisconsin couldn't wait, so we took action right away," Walker said. "We're moving in the right direction. We're moving our state forward.
"For us, it's really about fundamentally changing things."
Yeah, and they sure bought his line of BS hook line and sinker.
Of course, no one knows (that whole secret schedule thingie) if he held a fundraiser while he was in Oklahoma.
Update: MORE More Edition: It's still early and the "more" keeps coming in. Scott Walker clearly sees 2 challengers on top of the heat and today he released 2 adsdemonizing them (the Republican Governors Association was responsible for the first two attack ads last month).
Here's his Oh So Scary Attack on Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, his 2010 challenger:
In response, Barrett spokesman Phil Walzak released a statement that said: "For Scott Walker to attack anyone on jobs loss is not just shamelessly hypocritical, it's comically absurd. ... Instead of focusing on jobs, Walker has decided instead to use his time as governor to wage an ideological civil war on Wisconsin, and it's why voters will toss him from office in June and elect Tom Barrett."
Here's the Scary Ad on Kathleen Falk:
"Under Scott Walker, Wisconsin lost more jobs than any state in the nation last year, while Kathleen Falk balanced 14 straight budgets with a self-imposed landmark spending cap and during her tenure, her county grew nearly 30,000 jobs -- the most in the state," Falk spokesman Scot Ross said.
I'm surprised he's going the attack route with his own ads. He's normally a guy that presents himself as a regular, hard working guy, complete with the rolled up sleeves and jacketless Republican Costume. He prefers others to come in and do the dirty work on his behalf.
Update: A Bit of John Doe News Edition: Nothing earthshattering, but Kelly Reindflisch, one of Walkers top aides who has been charged with 4 felonies, is still trying to get her case heard in a more Republican friendly venue.
She was already turned down by the judge hearing the case, so she's appealing.
Rindfleisch, 43, wants the state Appeals Court to overturn Circuit Judge David Hansher's March 30 order, arguing her true residence was in Columbus, Wis., even though she spent several nights a week in Milwaukee in 2010. She worked that year as a policy adviser and deputy chief of staff to Walker while he was Milwaukee County executive.
"Rindfleisch never moved to Milwaukee County with the intent of staying there permanently," her appeal says.
However, she filed a statement with the county in 2010 declaring that she lived in Milwaukee in order to meet the county's residency requirement.
Judge Hanshers March 30 ruling was based on the fact that the charges involved her activities in Milwaukee County and should be tried in that venue. Reindfleisch, of course, would prefer to have a friendlier location outside of Democrat-filled Milwaukee.
Stay tuned, folks, it's still early.
