Welcome pootie, woozle, birdie and general critter lovers to a special (week later) Holiday Edition of the Wednesday PWB Peeps diary. This is a diary to relax, share pictures and stories about our animal friends, and to build community. Come on in and join us... |
Twice a year, on the solstice holidays, Basement Cat and Ceiling Cat are locked in mortal combat over the Light. At summer solstice, Basement Cat prevails and the light starts receding ... gradually at first and then more quickly until the light and dark are equal.
Then finally, on Winter Solstice, ceiling cat prevails. At the midpoint between Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, the memory of
basement cat began to fade, then comes
Spring, with daylight extending into the evening and the early morning hours.
Now May has arrived. We are rapidly approaching Summer Solstice and our April showers have brought May flowers and woozles ... and woozles with flowers.
To Honor Our Ancient Mysteries
May Day or Beltane is one of the eight pagan festivals or "sabbats" from the Wheel of the Year. It is a cross-quarter day that marks the mid-point between Ostara (Equinox) and the Summer Solstice and is usually celebrated between April 29th and May 7th with some traditions celebrating through the entire month of May (ha ... see what I did there?). This festival is about the sheer joy of life and taking part in it and committing ourselves to our goals. To all my pagan friends, "Bright Blessings on Beltane!" And to everyone: enjoy this moment and remember that the time for your new things to blossom is NOW.
