I live in Coal City, IL, a handful of miles South of the first Commercial Nuclear Power Station. I was in late grade school when it started. That first one is decommissioned. But Units 2 & 3 are still performing. Then on Sunday a friend sent me this article from a police report an hour North of us. This man, living blocks from me but not know by me, did something that has no connection with reality. And he has his hands on a Nuclear Reactor. I am 65, and for the first time afraid even though I have been very close to the people working their over the years. I have been active making sure issues were public and at times defended the power company at Public Meetings for fairness. I was a contractor for them on outside work for decades and was fully versed on safety, control and access to the site let alone the building itself.
Please let me know if my fear is warranted. http://www.dailyherald.com/...
