With all the political issues confronting us each day, it is easy to get over-whelmed and disillusioned. But you can do something each day this summer that will certainly make a difference in the lives of many children. That something is as simple as clicking on a link on your computer. You can do that, can't you? Here's the deal: an organization is giving away orchards to community groups throughout the country. The top 100 applications are on the website. All you have to do is sign up and login and vote each day. The top 5 will get the first set of orchards May 31. Then, the second round will select the top 4, and the third round, the next 4, and finally, the fourth round, the last four. All votes are cumulative so if your group doesn't make it first round, they still have a chance. 17 groups will be awarded orchards this year. See how easy it is?
Now, my son's group is one of those. His organization is The Children's Home. He runs the Scott's Prairie area. Children from the home visit the prairie and plant gardens and run a farmer's market each summer. Wouldn't it be nice if they had an orchard, too?
So, if you are willing and able, please go to: http://www.communitiestakeroot.com/... Register and then login each day and vote. Please consider voting for The Children's Home. It is in Illinois. Just click on List by State and you will find it. Thanks in advance. We are currently near the top 20 and with your help, I believe we can make it into the top 17.
