Not the America Taliban, eh?
Republican House Rep Nan Hayworth's campaign spokesman thought that the best way to refute that there is a GOP led war on women was to suggest throwing acid at female Democratic Senators. Really.
Jay Townsend, a campaign spokesman for Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth (NY-19), weighed in on a local Facebook discussion with a violent comment about Democratic women in Congress, and his suggestion is now earning the congresswoman condemnation from one of her Democratic challengers.
The comment:
Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz. My question today … when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.

The comment that Jay Townsend was responding to . . .
"Rather like Obama claiming credit for killing bin Laden"
Unlike failed politician and blowhard like yourself, Obama has actually accomplished something; your side - which gave Bush a "mission accomplished" banner to hang in a ship while playing dressup, like 4 year old - cannot manage to hide your childish envy of an actual grownup president who knows how to conduct foreign policy responsibly.
So to show him how serious Republicans are, Jay Townsend suggested throwing acid at Democratic female Senators to prove there is no war on women.
Right.
More WTF below the fold
I don't even know where to begin. Is Townsend and Hayworth against equal pay for women, as in the Lily Ledbetter Act? I don't know how to interpret Townsend's word salad of an answer, he lost me at "THROW ACID AT WOMEN"
That'll show them not to stand up for themselves. Is that it?
One of the Democrats, Richard Becker, who is challenging Republican Nan Hayworth for New York's 19th House district released this message through his own campaign spokesperson, Barry Caro . . .
From the NYObserver, courtesy of TalkingPointsMemo.com
I’d be fired - immediately and with cause - if I said stuff like this. Which begs the question: why is Jay Townsend still Nan Hayworth’s spokesman?” asked Becker campaign spokesman Barry Caro. “Does she agree that ‘bin Laden is dead in spite of Obama?’ Does she agree that we should ‘hurl some acid’ at politicians her campaign disagrees with? These comments are simply unprofessional and should never cross the lips of a congressional spokesman.” “This isn’t some obscure supporter or no-name right wing provocateur, and we’re not playing ‘six degrees of condemnation.’ This is Nan Hayworth’s official campaign spokesman saying some truly disturbing things on her behalf. The people of this district deserve to know whether Nan thinks what her spokesman is saying is OK - and if not, what she’s going to do about it.
I grew up in the district that is now misrepresented by Nan Hayworth. It's a beautiful place, the Hudson Valley and the towns where I grew up like Washingtonville deserve much, much better than Nan Hayworth, who did a full Eric Cantor impersonation to demand offsetting budget cuts to release disaster aid
for her own district when we got flooded a few months back. I've never heard of a member of congress taking a direct stand against disaster aid for her own district before. I wonder what my New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand would have to say in response to Rep. Hayworth's spokesperson who would throw acid in her face. This is absolutely pathetic. Rep Hayworth should be ashamed, and Jay Townsend should be fired immediately. This isn't Rush Limbaugh mouthing off, it's an official GOP campaign spokesperson. I wonder what their campaign slogan will be? This is beyond the fail. I seriously hope Nan Hayworth loses her job this fall, that way she will know how so many people in her district feel. She got elected the last time along with the rest of the Tea-O-P on a message of "JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!". Hundreds of anti-abortion bills later, what does Nan have to show for it other than one of the most disgusting official GOP campaign statements EVER. "Mission Accomplished" indeed, you clowns.
So when is Townsend fired?

6:41 PM PT: I'm proud to inform everyone here that the Facebook commenter Tom is in fact our very own kossack Randian. It seems Randian's little facebook comment caused Jay Townsend to have a full meltdown. What's more, Mr. Townsend isn't just some staffer, he ran for Senate last year and got wailed on by Sen. Chuck Schumer 65-33. The NY State GOP and Congresswoman Hayworth has some explaining to do, starting with why hasn't Jay Townsend been fired yet?

Seriously, if you continue to employ Jay Townsend is that a signal that you support his statement that "We should throw acid at female Democratic Senators"? Orange County NY deserves better, Representative Hayworth, and your silence so far speaks volumes
Fri Jun 01, 2012 at 1:02 PM PT: Almost 24 hrs later, still no comment from Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, Jay Townsend is still on her staff, so I will take that as her way of saying that Yes, "Let's hurl some acid at those female Democratic Senators" is her official campaign stance on the issues of things to hurl and who to hurl them at. Unreal. You can imagine the outrage from the right if a Dem had said this.
