It seems like a sick twist of fate sometimes, but even for all the GOTV efforts and hard campaigning over the months of an election, voter turnout could boil down to weather. In theory, nasty weather (thunderstorms, extreme heat/cold, heavy rain/snow) serves to suppress voter turnout and serve to give a boost to the candidate who has the most enthusiastic support in an election.
Thankfully, this shouldn't pose too much of a problem for the folks in Wisconsin tomorrow. For the most part, temperatures will be downright nice for the beginning of June (compared to what it could be), with a touch of humidity and maybe some isolated thunderstorms off to the northern and western part of the state.
Madison
After a relatively cool and cloudy start to the morning in the upper 50s (around 57 at 7AM), temperatures will gradually warm up to the low- to mid- 70s by the afternoon hours. The high temperature is dependent on the cloud cover. I expect that there will be some breaks in the clouds later in the afternoon, which should allow the temperatures to reach a degree or so either side of 75 as the high.
The models are giving Madison about a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon as an upper-level jet streak (an area of faster winds within the jet stream that provides enhanced lifting) moves through the area. There shouldn't be any severe weather, nor should it be a total washout, but be prepared for the stray shower or thunderstorm later in the afternoon into the evening.
Milwaukee
Milwaukee is also expecting pretty nice weather for Walker's Gotta Go day, with morning temperatures in the mid 50s (around 56) and mostly cloudy skies. Given Milwaukee's proximity to Lake Michigan, and a wind generally from the northeast through most of the day, high temperatures should be tamped down somewhat from everyone else, only reaching the upper-60s in the afternoon hours (around 67 or 68) with skies gradually becoming partly cloudy. The temperatures should be a bit warmer -- in the low 70s -- the farther inland you go. The chance of rain in this corner of Wisconsin is about as low as Scott Walker's integrity.
Green Bay
The weather in Green Bay should mimic that of Madison, with a morning temperature in the mid-50s with overcast skies leading to gradual breaks in the clouds, which should allow the sun to peek through and raise afternoon temps to the low-70s (72 or 73ish). Green Bay is just on the edge of the rain chances for tomorrow, with about a 20% chance of rain. It likely won't rain, but be prepared for that off chance just the same.
Central Wisconsin
For the middle of the state, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper-70s and even low-80s the farther west you go in the state. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy for most of the day, with isolated thunderstorms developing in the afternoon hours. Storms shouldn't be too intense, nor should they last too long once they form.
Eau Claire
Eau Claire looks to be the warm spot in the state tomorrow, with clear to partly cloudy skies allowing high temperatures to reach the 80 degree mark (and maybe a degree or two higher) by the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon will serve to increase cloudiness later in the afternoon, and possibly lower the temperatures if one manages to hit Eau Claire.
Overall, it's looking like a pretty nice day to get out and vote out the Koch Brothers Scott Walker. Good luck, cheeseheads.
