I hate to say it, but Romney in the White House would lead to a better economy in 2013.
Of course I wouldn't vote for Romney under any circumstances, so how can I say this?
First, Romney would pass a massive Keynesian stimulus in the form of a giant tax cut. Though most don't realize it, Keynes does say you scan stimulate the economy by cutting taxes--it's still putting more cash in the hands of people who can then create demand in the economy. Tax cuts for the wealthy aren't a fair or efficient way of stimulating the economy, but they are a form of stimulus nonetheless.
Second, Romney is likely to run up a massive, massive Defense Spending increase, which would be another huge Keynesian stimulus that would help the economy. The justification for this would be that "Obama destroyed and dismantled the military" even though he didn't.
Third, Washington would end its childish fetish with deficit reduction for at least 4 years, because Republicans believe in the falsity that only Democrats create deficits.
Fourth, any ideas Romney has to improve the economy will not be given a knee-jerk no-vote from the opposition. The same cannot be said if Obama gets re-elected.
So am I using this as justification for voting for Romney? No, it's a sad state of affairs when one major Party has committed to destroying the world economy unless they get to run things. But that's where we are in 2012.
