I'll make this quick. I was reading electionprojection.com, which is a right-wing blogger. He wrote the following:
In just over two weeks, The Blogging Caesar will be headed to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the annual RightOnline Conference. I'm very excited about this opportunity to connect with like-minded bloggers, political pundits and other national personalities. A great line-up of speakers is on tap including Hugh Hewitt, Michele Malkin and Scott Rasmussen, just to name three.
In 2010, Nate Silver rated the pollsters. Rasmussen was the worst pollster:
On Tuesday, polls conducted by the firm Rasmussen Reports — which released more than 100 surveys in the final three weeks of the campaign, including some commissioned under a subsidiary on behalf of Fox News — badly missed the margin in many states, and also exhibited a considerable bias toward Republican candidates
.
I don't have enough space to talk about Scott Rasmussen. Other recent diaries have also documented his bias.
Rasmussen is to pollsters what FoxNews is to news. Phony. Why the hell do we give him any credibility? Why the hell do we report his numbers? They are free, yes, but they are designed to demoralize Dems and prop up the GOP.
If we showcase his numbers, as we often do, on a liberal website, then we give him undue credibility to spread his garbage.
7:58 AM PT: I do know that Kos and Steve Singiser use a variety of polls and the primary pollster for DKos is PPP. Perhaps I should not have used the term "relying on"... but the fact is we ARE using Rasmussen and we DO print their results alongside every other legitimate poll. That needs to stop!
