I've heard the Republican talking points about how the ACA is supposedly "a middle class tax increase." That's according to Mitch McConnell on Fox News this morning. You've heard the same thing non-stop since Thursday's ruling. It's a "tax increase" on the middle class.
Uh no, it's not.
According to the CBO, it's a penalty that only about 1% of Americans will end up paying. And they will choose to pay it instead of purchasing healthcare with their own money and/or government assistance.
So 99% won't have to pay the penalty. 1% will. By their choice.
Hmm. 99% and 1%. Why is that, once again, the Republicans are in the position of defending the 1% against the 99%?
