Water torture
IDF confiscates water containers from Palestinians and Bedouins in Jordan Valley.
Avi confiscates water containers..."There is reason to suspect they used the above merchandise for carrying out an offense."...Welcome to the land of apartheid.
That's not my opinion. That's the respected (by some) Progressive Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Do you wonder how you use a water container to carry out an offense?
For that, you have to follow me down the orange rabbit hole to the land of Sentence First, Verdict After.
Why, you use it to steal water that you are illegally prevented from accessing. Which, then, is the offense?
I am an anti-Zionist Jewish Buddhist. Some people think that that is impossible, so I must really be an anti-Zionist anti-Semite. Some of these people think that any Jew, even any Israeli who opposes actions by the Israeli government is a vicious anti-Semite. That includes some here on Daily Kos, who have in the past claimed that I am not only an anti-Semite, but a troll and a sock puppet, and tried to donut me to death.
It didn't work. I got my mojo back, all the way up to Trusted User. But they had taught me a lesson. You don't challenge the I/Pers on dKos who claim that they own the topic, and only they can criticize either Israelis or Palestinians. You don't cross them with opinion, not even with fact. I stayed away from the whole issue.
But no more. This is too much.
Avi's bosses claim the "offense" is stealing water from a pipe. This is why the containers are seized - with no inquiry, no trial. Welcome to the land of lawlessness and evil. Welcome to the land of apartheid. Israel does not permit thousands of these wretched people to hook up to the water pipes. This water is for Jews only...The axis of evil is located about an hour's drive from your home. But emotionally distant and far from the heart, it inspires no "social protest." The occupation is enlightened, Israel is right, the IDF is the most moral army, and apartheid is merely an invention of Israel's haters. Go to the Jordan Valley and see for yourselves.
Article in Hebrew
We who follow the ongoing Israel/Palestine disaster know that non-Jews such as Jimmy Carter are of course not permitted to say that Israel practices Apartheid. We know that Jews such as Justice Goldstone are lambasted as anti-Semites when they have the temerity to suggest that Israel commits war crimes. But even we may not know that Haaretz has been calling out Israel for Apartheid laws since 2007.
Where is the occupation?
The occupied territories and the Palestinians living there are slowly becoming virtual realities, distant from the eye and the heart.
Haaretz Editorial | Oct.03, 2007
The de facto separation is today more similar to political apartheid than an occupation regime because of its constancy. One side - determined by national, not geographic association - includes people who have the right to choose and the freedom to move, and a growing economy. On the other side are people closed behind the walls surrounding their community, who have no right to vote, lack freedom of movement, and have no chance to plan their future.
