Got an envelope in the mail today from my insurance company. My natural reaction was to expect bad news. Imagine my surprise to find a large check enclised and a letter of explanation!
The letter went on to say the check was as a result of the Affordable Care Act. It continued by saying that one of the provisions was the 80/20 rule, wherein 80% of the premiums must be spent on actual care. Since they did not meet that standard, all of the policy holders were getting money back. The check, by the way, was not a small one. . .it was a LARGE AMOUNT!
Wow, I wondered. Does this mean everyone is getting these letters and checks? Does this mean my right wing mother-in-law will also be getting this letter and check? The crazy bar owner I argued with two days before. . .will he be getting this letter and check?
Faux "News", which has been constantly saying this health care law is going to mean increased premiums. . .how are they going to spin this as, all over the country, people of all stripes start recieving those letters and checks?
And, with a flood of unexpected dollars reaching consumers, in effect a massive stimulus plan, will the economy finally turn around in a meaningful way?
Did you get a check too?
