We know that in 2000, 2001, and 2002 Mitt Romney named himself president and CEO of Bain, and paid himself a salary of at least six figures (maybe seven or eight, we don't know) as compensation for his duties as president and CEO.
We also know that he claims no involvement with Bain during that period, and therefor no responsibility for the management decisions that were made at the time.
There is a theory that Romney pretended to be technically involved in the company for purposes of qualifying as a candidate for governor of Massachusetts. There is another theory that Romney is a control freak that refused to give up his executive positions at Bain so he could continue to call the shots while he was busy with the Olympics.
Here's my theory. Romney is just shrewd. Had he designated a President and CEO, he would have had to pay them salaries commensurate with the titles. Instead, he delegated those responsibilities to underpaid VP's and managers, and retained the president and CEO titles and fat salary for himself whilst he did absolutely nothing. Very shrewd. Damn those job creators are clever. That's why they are crazy rich and don't have to pay hardly anything in taxes. How can you not admire that?
