John McCain tried defending Mitt Romney on one issue and created a new headache.
McCain tried the truely-tested Republican outrage strategy on Mitt's Tax Strategy:
"Of course not," McCain told POLITICO when asked if the contents of Romney's tax returns disqualified him from the selection process. "I don’t know what depths these people won’t reach.
So far, so Good.
Then, the reporters asked a gotcha question. When asked why John McCain selected Sarah Palin
"Oh come on, because we thought that Sarah Palin was the better candidate. Why did we not take [Tim] Pawlenty, why did we not take any of the other 10 other people. Why didn’t I? Because we had a better candidate, the same way with all the others. ... Come on, why? That’s a stupid question."
So, McCain states that Sarah Palin was a better candidate than Mitt Romney in 2008. On what conditions? What was his criteria? Name one real parameter in which Sarah Palin would have bested Mitt Romney
So, Sarah Palin, who didn't know that Africa was a continent, invents new words due to gaffes and has a list of at least 13 social studies gaffes that contains such gems on Paul Revere revisited, VP runs Senate, NH is in North West of USA, USA and Afghanistan are neighbors etc is better than Mitt Romney
Heh!!!
What does this say about Mitt Romney? To the voters, John McCain's message is that Mitt Romney is worse candidate than Sarah Palin. We consider ourselves forewarned.
To me, John McCain's statement says how poor and reckless a campaign he ran. That he considered Sarah Palin to be a better candidate than Mitt Romney reflects so poorly on the intellectual leadership of the GOP.
With friends like McCain, Mr. Romney, the late night jokes write for themselves!
