I have a Facebook page. Most readers probably have one or had one. It is a great tool to connect with family, friends, and associates. You can create pages to support causes you believe in or even promote a product or service. Most media and politicians also have pages, so you can keep up with the latest information they deliver. As with anything, however, there are two sides to Facebook. The ugly side is censorship. Now, I know some have experienced Facebook censoring some information posted on their pages, but, this is not the censorship that concerns me. What I am upset over is the way some people think they have the right to bully others and get "outraged" over something that a friend has posted or shared. Yesterday, a family member shared a meme on my page and all hell broke loose. Another family member objected to the message on the meme and voiced it in the comments section. Then another family member got involved with their comments. The end result was the original objector deleted or un-friended the one who'd posted the meme. Now, there are hurt feelings. My question is this, why do people think they have the right to do this? What ever happened to freedom of speech? Isn't that why Facebook has provided the remove or delete this post feature? If I don't like something that shows up in my newsfeed, that is what I do. I'd never presume to tell someone that they shouldn't post something on my friend's page. It is none of my business. I disagree with many of the posts I see. So, if you are a friend or family member or associate of mine and you don't like my post, just delete it or me. But, you aren't going to shut me up!
