Another tragedy unwinds in Colorado. The country mourns for the lives that were cut way to short.
The memories of that night will remain for a lifetime. Sadly and worse yet, for those who were wounded, many will have medical bills.
If ever there was a reason to have a national health care plan, this would certainly be it. Maybe not the best time to say it, but the question does need to be asked. Who among us would say those who were shot should shoulder their medical bills?
The fact is of the 59 wounded, many will have medical bills that will haunt them as much as the tragedy itself and that is another tragedy and one that can be prevented.
If this country really cares, I mean really cares about those who were victims of this massacre; we would see an outpouring of support to each and every victim in Aurora that not a one of them would have to worry about medical bills sure to come.
Perhaps it will come to fruition and real assistance will find its way to those with astronomical medical bills, before the collection agencies can line up at their feeding trough.
Every hour of every day in America our citizens are hit with medical bills that insurance does not or will not cover. To those without insurance, a nightmare has begun and those on the right simply shout pay your bills.
Life is a rough and tumble existence and the unknown of medical bills should never come into play. Conservatives must like to gamble. A roll of the dice and it can all come crashing down, even on the best prepared.
Life as it is will eventually have us all paying medical expenses. Sometimes as in the case of Aurora, it happens when you least expect it and to saddle these 59 victims with medical bills is heinous beyond comprehension. Yet, the conservatives want their blood, no matter how it is delivered.
The question to conservatives is this. Why in hell should these 59 wounded be hit with another tragedy just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time?
There of course is no reason in heaven these people should be hit with medical expenses and if you believe that, then you also believe that all other Americans should be granted that same wisdom.
Where is the value? Or whatever, that if I am ever attacked and injured at random that I pay my own medical bills and go bankrupt?
Here’s a suggestion, when President Obama visits Aurora, he should announce that all the wounded will not have to pay one thin dime for their medical. Now that is how we take care of Americans. That is a true tribute to those injured in this tragedy.
