On Friday, a gunman opened fire outside the Empire State Building in New York. Two people were killed in the incident, including the gunman. Nine others were wounded. In the past few weeks we saw mass murder shootings at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado and a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
After the Aurora shooting, many gun enthusiasts said that if audience members had guns there wouldn't have been so much carnage. I don't recall anyone saying that after the Sikh massacre. It is so much malarkey (okay, so Mitt Romney is not the only person who still recognizes "malarkey" as a word).
New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly just issued a statement saying that ALL 9 bystanders at the Empire State Building that were wounded were shot by police. These men are trained professionals. So, to all those who believe that more arms mean less injuries, here is proof of your folly. The best way to minimize gun fatality is to minimize guns.
