Our friends at Free Republic have a new appellation for us, yep, you got it, the vile democrat hate site. Apparently we are all Godless homos. And some of the comments -- to die for!
-- Markos is a twerp as are his followers.
-- This guy was actually in the Army? The same Army I was in? And has the biggest left-wing website that there is?
-- Yes, but he went in after DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell). He joined just so he could see all the naked soldiers in the showers every morning and maybe score once in awhile.
These folks don't seem to know Markos very well. For instance, they seem unaware that he governs our every waking thought from his orbiting psychotronic mind control ray broadcast platform. Or something like that.
Now, what I figure is that our Free Republic brothers and sisters are a bit perturbed to learn that according to Nate Silver, Obama is now at the highest chance of winning the election, at 76.3% to the RomneyBot's 23.6%.
Our own Delilah has a fine straightforward diary, in which she suggests that if you ever find yourself discussing politics with a conservative republican, your conversational tenor should be governed by the response to this question:
Am I the jack-ass whisperer?
But sometimes I think I am the jack-ass whisperer. People have a right to be wrong. And our friends over at Free Republic, well, they are
liberally exercising their that right.
I think it would be hard to be a Freeper, or a Paulista. You'd have to be looking for Godless gun-grabbing commies everywhere, all the time. But worse, there's the problem of the hopelessness of the conservative philosophy, which basically asserts that human culture, civilization, art, etc. has reached its limit, and no organized effort can or should attempt to improve things.
What conservatives have is fear. What they need are dreams. In that spirit, let's hear from the magnificent Roy Orbison.
