It's just a bump in the road. In what has been a long and bumpy directionless road.
Are they there yet?
Romney video: fatal gaffe, or bump in the road?

The Romney campaign scrambled to downplay the crisis Tuesday, with advisor Bay Buchanan telling CNN that the video marked a "bump in the road."
Analysts were less charitable.
"I suspect it will not go away," Thomas Mann, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a Washington-based think tank, told AFP.
"It's a big deal because it reinforces an impression that he lives in a world of the wealthy, that he has little empathy for those unlike himself, and that his policies favor the winners in a tough economy and growing equality."

Has Romney's video comments sent his campaign into a tailspin?
"No, but he is the clear underdog," Mann said.

There's no need fear -- the ghost of Seamus-the-dog is near ...
Well all campaigns have their ups and downs -- but any Candidate worthy of the office, can pull it together and make his case to the people.
And those who can't -- well, they return to outsourcing.
A Mood of Gloom Afflicts the Romney Campaign
by Michael Barbaro, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes -- Sep 18, 2018

A palpably gloomy and openly frustrated mood has begun to creep into Mr. Romney’s campaign for president. Well practiced in the art of lurching from public relations crisis to public relations crisis, his team seemed to reach its limit as it digested a ubiquitous set of video clips that showed their boss candidly describing nearly half of the country’s population as government-dependent “victims,” and saying that he would “kick the ball down the road” on the biggest foreign policy challenge of the past few decades, the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
Grim-faced aides acknowledged that it was an unusually dark moment, made worse by the self-inflicted, seemingly avoidable nature of the wound. In low-volume, out-of-the-way conversations, a few of them are now wondering whether victory is still possible and whether they are entering McCain-Palin ticket territory.

“We’re still focused,” [Kevin Madden, a senior adviser] said. “This is an election that is focused on the economy. It’s focused on the direction of the country.”
Mr. Madden wanted to be clear: despite the video, Mr. Romney was focused, a word he used eight times. “We remain pretty focused and determined,” he said, before opting for a stronger adjective. “Very focused and determined,” he said.

I heard if you repeat something again and again and again -- it somehow makes it real. Just ask Clint Eastwood on how well that trick works.
McCain-Palin territory -- they wish. If wishes were pink-slips, then the Romney Campaign staff will soon be seeing a plethora of those, along with a signed photo of their very focused leader. (... focused on which lies to keep next ...? )
If only the "gloomy economic news" would somehow convince 53% of the people -- that Romney is finally telling the truth. (yup that's the ticket!) Now, that would be a true economic miracle.
