Complacency towards the end is our worst enemy. We have to think as if it's not decided yet.
Unfortunately, Democrats are good at celebrating before the race is won. They are not strong finishers. they don't seem to have that “winning at all costs” Outlook, the kind of outlook that is not satisfied with the knockdown, but keeps going until it gets a conclusive knockout, And I mean throwing the opponent out of the ring and into the garbage can. Republicans are pulling all stops; we have to do even more.
If the campaign is neck–and–neck, we have to work hard. If we are ahead, we have to work HARDER!
Follow me below the orange croissant for a little pep talk.
Friends, this is not the time to be complacent, to think that we have already won the race. We've seen far too many upsets at the last minute.
ANYTHING can happen. It's important not to fade out towards the end. Some polls may be for us, but, in the words of Dolly Parton:
“When I go down, I want to go down good and solid.”
I urge you all not to let up in your efforts. I want this race to go to Obama, and I don't want it to be ambiguous; I want him to win GOOD AND SOLID. I want to shut the Koch brothers up FOREVER. I want Sheldon Adelson to lose a lot of money and be HURTING.
This is not the time to ease up, to think “ we are ahead, we can relax”. This is the time to redouble our efforts. I realize that there are some polls that say that Obama is ahead, but that's not enough for me. Remember, a race can be won in the last foot. Let's not let the opposing team turn it around towards the end.
I WANT A MANDATE! The people want it, our country needs it, and I will not settle for less.
Thank you.
