I knew it. I suspected that the big financial players were colluding in the huge buyouts of the past decade or so. I also suspect that the purpose is to destroy the entrepreneurial retail market. Why? Why do we now have only two hardware stores in most areas? Why? Why do so many areas only have a WalMart? I think the end game is to gain CONTROL!
The FREEDOM, FREE MARKET shouters are all liars. Like the GOP, the results of the collusion depicted in this New York Times article will have the exact opposite effect on business in America.
RETAIL COMPETITION IS BEING MURDERED IN AMERICA. These colluding behemoths will take this show on the road and murder retail competition throughout the world until they are stopped.
And BAIN Capital is listed in the impending court case.

The documents have become part of a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Boston brought against Bain and other firms by shareholders who say the firms’ bid-rigging artificially deflated the sales price of more than two dozen companies and cost them billions of dollars.

Bain Capital Complaint Should Be Made Public, Court Rules
"Stand Down" and "Bid-rigging"
Those are fighting words.
Now, somewhere in the dark cavaties of the hearts of the people at the top of these firms is THE REASON for playing and/or colluding with each other.
I don't think it is just about money.
I think there is something so dark, so sinister, that I personally can't find words to express my suspicions.
The one word that loudly comes forward is CONTROL, the kind of control that curtails FREEDOM and FREE MARKETS.
America is being hoodwinked. The world needs the US citizens to truly wake up.
We need a Justice Department to break this up now before we end up with too few retail options. Before we are the slaves of these chains.
