Wikipedia just went into the SOPA-PIPA blackout for 24-hours.
This is what Wikipedia's English page states:
Imagine a World
Without Free Knowledge
For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. Learn more.

Also, Reddit will be going into a 12-hour blackout starting at 8:00 am EST. I am really excited about this.
Tue Jan 17, 2012 at 9:15 PM PT: BBC has written about Wikipedia's blackout too.
Tue Jan 17, 2012 at 9:23 PM PT: Message from Google:
Tell Congress: Please don't censor the web!
Tue Jan 17, 2012 at 9:52 PM PT: From Michael Moore's website:
This site has gone dark today in protest of the U.S. Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and PROTECT-IP Act (PIPA). The U.S. Congress is about to censor the Internet, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. We need to kill these bills to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity. Call, fax and email your Senator and Representative today. Learn more at AmericanCensorship.org and SOPABlackout.org
Tue Jan 17, 2012 at 10:01 PM PT: The title has been changed.
Tue Jan 17, 2012 at 10:06 PM PT: Thanks for putting this on the rec list!
4:49 AM PT: From a friend of mine on Twitter:
Reading detailed, technical takedowns of why #SOPA won't work...but here's the core problem: details aside, it is an "internet blacklist."
6:20 AM PT: From Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE):
Thank you for your concern about #SOPA. I have asked to have my name removed from the bill. However, the economic impact of IP theft is real and a solution is needed.
7:23 AM PT: From Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL):
