The world is full of competition and distraction. Some have the ability to rise above the pit of snares and confusion that others spend their entire lives navigating, through their own power, or that of another.
The successful appear to be able to manipulate time and matter to their will, there is no limit to what they can achieve or become. Despite any situation they can be relied upon to adapt and master the objective.
To them the only limit is their sense of self-worth and ability to focus.
Most would claim to be of this sort, many might sustain the effort required for a short span, few would finish the proverbial race, and even less would take home a medal.
The true secret is how much activity and change is one person capable of perceiving. The human mind is capable of achieving so much, if the body is able to adequately focus it.
To succeed at being alive is to maintain a constant optimistic expectation.
There is another kind however, a robot of sorts, a man incapable of breaking function or process. Their mind dulls, and the quest for food for thought becomes a daily struggle for food for tomorrow. They have lost the sense of 'being' and only breathe to fulfill a function in the great overloaded mechanism of modern society.
To achieve success a person must be aware, fast thinking, well-versed, no stranger to failure or rebuke, and above all else; capable of seeing value in most things more than the value they hold in self.
Their are many roads to failure or distraction which, if to be aware is to be 'capable of succeeding', distraction is the first sign of defeat or servitude, a person not capable of making decisions for themselves.
To be distracted is to lower one's place on the food chain, to be destined for the catch of some greater will or scheme. This sort of life does not rely on destiny, rather the winds of fate and sands of time to sweep them away forever.
To achieve any measure of success, we must be capable of elevating above the situation or obstacle and gain a more complete understanding and sense of direction.
Many of life's daily obstacles are merely the result of not being comfortable with life, ie; activity and awareness. To cope with the uneasiness, the person requires a magnifying glass to view life, in order to find anything constant. With their perception dulled so as not be alarmed by the world around them, they cannot help but become obsessed with the many cracks and flaws in their daily lives, and perpetually make mountains out of molehills.
Such a life is neither free or remarkable of any sort unless used in a national statistic. When our priorities are so cluttered with things to correct, and bad habits to fix, we easily cease to simply 'be' better people.
