The Republican Party has completely foregone the dog whistle. They're simply out and proud racists. I will henceforth consider any member of the GOP as a fellow traveler with these scumbags. The entirety of the GOP is complicit and in league with this rhetoric. And until I'm sufficiently satisfied that they no longer trade in this nonsense, they are all suspect. And the only way to satisfy me is for them to lose elections because they no longer have the support of the Confederate Wing of the radical right. Until then, in my mind, they're ALL guilty.
Here's state Rep. Loy Mauch (R-AR)
Follow along and gaze in astonished horror.
It is truly remarkable.
The headline at the link doesn't highlight the truly scary part of the statement. I think that Think Progress buried the lede here.
If slavery were so God-awful, why didn’t Jesus or Paul condemn it, why was it in the Constitution and why wasn’t there a war before 1861?
The South has always stood by the Constitution and limited government. When one attacks the Confederate Battle Flag, he is certainly denouncing these principles of government as well as Christianity.
I believe that my emphasis is more telling.
ArkansasBlog has more.
Particularly this morsel:
I would like to thank this newspaper’s editorialist for publishing the tribute to Abraham Lincoln as well as his second inaugural address so that the readers can see for themselves what a fake this neurotic Northern war criminal truly was.
Get that? The GOP's standard bearer for nearly 150 years is now a war criminal.
And this juicy tidbit:
This country already lionizes Wehrmacht leaders. They go by the names of Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, Sheridan, Custer, etc. These Marxists not only destroyed the Constitution they were sworn to uphold, but apostatized the word of God. Either these depraved infidels or the Constitution and Scriptures are in error. I’m more persuaded by the word of God.
They were both Nazis and Marxists. Cognitive dissonance aside, the assertion of General George Armstrong Custer being a Marxist is an amazing thought experiment. I mean, who knew? Apparently Custer thought that the Cheyenne and Sioux nations were doing "Marxism" incorrectly. Custer thought he'd set them straight.
Here's the deal: Someone voted for this asshat. In fact, enough people voted for this asshat and agree with him and got him elected.
He has fellow travelers. People that don't come with labels on their foreheads. They could be standing in line with you at the grocery store. You could be sitting next to one of them at a ball game or a movie theater.
They are everywhere and until the GOP denounces them from the national level all the way down to municipalites and denies these racists a road to political power, I'm going to simply assume that every single Republican voter and elected official is a racist, bigoted, Neo-Confederate theocrat that has one thing on their minds: Insurrection and civil war.
I consider them a threat to national security.
I consider them traitors.
