Despite the fact that he's been running for president for around 6 years now, Mitt Romney has defied tradition and only released two years worth of (incomplete) tax returns. In the interest of being allowed to more fully vet a fabulously wealthy man vying to be leader of the free world, we demanded more and he had the audacity to give us a letter from his accountant. That's right, a freaking letter from his accountant.
According to his own website, the two years of returns he's released amount to over 1200 pages. His "summary" of the previous TWENTY YEARS: One page with 5 bullet points. Seriously.
They want us to accept this. They want us to accept that these accountants (who are paid by Romney, by the way) adequately summarized twenty years worth of tax returns in a single page and they didn't obfuscate or leave out any information that may be pertinent to voters who are choosing who the next President of the United States will be.
Then when we get some good economic news, the right wing immediately disparages the professionalism of the economists at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. With no evidence whatsoever, these Romney supporters attack a report that, really, we should all be celebrating, by launching a baseless conspiracy theory.
There's a reason Mitt Romney refuses to release those tax returns. Maybe he was a tax cheat and took advantage of the 2009 amnesty. The letter from his accountant is silent on that. Romney wants to be president, but he doesn't want the voters to have the information they need to make an informed choice.
What is Mitt hiding? I'm a voter and I demand to know what's in there. We should all demand to know what Mitt's hiding.
