This is what I wanted to hear Obama or Biden point out. For me, it encapsulates the other issues, and the statistics are clear. However, probably the most important thing (in terms of winning an election if nothing else) is how much emotional resonance it would have with a strong majority of voting Americans.
There is no need to mention Operation Wall Street or anything else that Democrats think might scare off the independent/swing voters. It's a slogan that reflects but simplifies today's reality, with Romney being one of the major beneficiaries of the trickle up effect. It might have Frank Luntz wearing diapers because what he might feel like he needs to do every time he hears it, which is reason enough for me (joking, obviously).
What happens when Republicans try and deflect attention with something like their recent embassy accusations? Perhaps it could go like this:
"Why isn't the President being honest about security at the Libyan embassy?"
"Mitt, I never said I was perfect, but I'll let voters compare my foreign policy record to the previous, Republican administration while you go ahead and surround yourself with the people responsible for their policies. Instead, I am focusing most of my attention to turning the trickle up economy Republicans tell us somehow really benefits everyone into one in which there is fundamental fairness and no favoritism, such as there is now towards hedge fund managers."
The ironic thing is that only in a communist nation could there be near 100% employment of the able-bodied. In a largely capitalist economy, there will always be quite a bit of unemployment due to its unregulated nature (relative to an economy controlled by the national government). What we've seen in recent years, however, goes beyond this, which is that when the wealthy and major corporations make huge profits, there is very little job creation relative to what the "job creating" trickle down claims would require. Democrats, please, start being more vocal about this !
