This diary is written to a number of our very special friends who are still reading, but are no longer actively, dynamically involved as they were. I'm not putting their names here. But I wager you'll know at least some of the ones I mean, both within Top Comments and without.
But First, A Word From Our Sponsor:
Top Comments recognizes the previous day's Top Mojo and strives to promote each day's outstanding comments through nominations made by Kossacks like you. Please send comments (before 9:30pm ET) by email to topcomments@gmail.com or by our KosMail message board. Just click on the Spinning Top to make a submission. Look for the Spinning Top to pop up in diaries around Daily Kos.
Make sure that you include the direct link to the comment (the URL), which is available by clicking on that comment's date/time. Please let us know your Daily Kos user name if you use email so we can credit you properly. If you send a writeup with the link, we can include that as well. The diarist reserves the right to edit all content.
Please come in. You're invited to make yourself at home! Join us beneath the kos-doodle...

Dear Brilliant, Missing Friends,
We love your recs, of the diaries and comments (and we NOTICE them)! We love the FACT of your presence, the comfort of knowing you’re with us and for us. It makes a huge difference to know that you’re there, and that you care! With confidence that you are fighting, in your way, for the Democratic cause, for our candidates, and our hearts and our compassion. With confidence that you are voting, passionately, for the candidates we need in office, that you are influencing (in your way) others to open their hearts and minds and to vote for fairness and justice and equality and freedom!
Our worlds wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t THERE. Doing what you do. Leaving little signs of your hearts and minds in your recs. Little signals, probably not even really intended for us, pay attention though we may. But they matter, all the same. You matter, all the same.
But, DAMN! Do we miss your voice! Do we miss your input! Do we miss the exchange and interaction with you, the richness of your fine dialogue, the affectionate warmth of your words! Do we miss the times like we USED to share so regularly, so naturally. You may think - since we have not spoken out about it this way before now - that we’ve adapted, that we’ve ‘moved on.’ That we’re indifferent to the idea of your return, the return of your fine contributions, to the ACTIVE sharing with you of these times, these circumstances, these battles we fight, the times of togetherness in victory and in defeat. But we are not indifferent to those things at all.
We MISS you. We miss the power and clarity of your words and ideas. We miss your COMPANY. You are a PART of us. We admit it, proudly, happily. And we long for the day when you might, as well.
With love,
BeninSC
On to tonight' comments! Graciously compiled and formatted by brillig, who is still very much with us, thank GOODNESS!
Sometimes I see a rec and I smile for hours, having seen a familiar, oft-missed face. You ARE missed.
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From noweasels:
In Onomastic's awesome and inspiring diary, there were many equally inspiring comments, but this one from mindara spoke to my heart.
From brillig:
In Shawn Russell's Rolling Stone Magazine Exposes how Mitt Romney Dodged his Taxes, divineorder asks how anyone could vote for Rmoney. Egalitare has an answer.
Hunter discusses Todd Akin & Evolution. Bibble had a comment therein on what our evolutionary relatives might be thinking.
From tonight's host:
I picked this comment from demedja for its clear optimism about the election, which I needed to hear tonight.
I liked this perspective-filled comment on Halloween by jjohnjj. And I like the sig line even more!
Have you noticed?
Politicians who promise LESS government
only deliver BAD government.
This is not a comment rescue, but, rather, a diary rescue, by Ellen Columbo (already republished to Community Spotlight.) So, why did I pick it? Because it reminded me so clearly of former Top Comments diarist, Cronesense's, fine series called Storytime. Appropriate tonight, in my book.
Think a woman's work is never done?! (I do!) What about if you're POTUS?! Vita Brevis elaborates!
Like graphic comments before jotter plucks them for the next night's TC?! Try this one, from Ender!
Top Mojo for yesterday, October 12th, first comments and tip jars excluded. Thank you
