It is hard to figure out which was the stupidest, lyingest moment from last night. There are so many to choose from. (BTW, I know lyingest is not a word, yet, but something about Romney makes me want to invent new words just to describe him.)
Binders of women?
Calling the President a liar about his Libya comments?
Five point plan that wasn't?
No taxes on capital gains and dividends if your income is less than $250,000? Really?
Talking over and interrupting Candy Crawley?
Single mothers cause crime? With AK47s?
For me, the hidden gem was this one:
Our party has been focused on big business too long. I came through small business. I understand how hard it is to start a small business.
My jaw doesn't drop that often. I have been watching politics for too many years to be too surprised at the things politicians say while running for office. But this one prompted me to rewind and watch it again.
Yes, Mitt Romney stood up in front of all of us idiot Americans who clearly owe him something and claimed that he had a hard time starting a small business. Perhaps it would have been easier if he had been a Latino. Or as Rosie Perez suggested, a gay Latino with a vagina.
How deep is the contempt that he has for the public that he would make such a statement? And how stupid would we have to be to believe that Bain Capital was ever a "small business?" And how hard could life, any of it, have been for the son of a wealthy Governor and auto executive?
A lot of things that he said last night showed how clearly out of touch he is with the average American, but few of them expressed such disdain for our intelligence.
So what do you think was his shining moment? And why?
