I diary with alarming infrequency, but this question just popped into my head with technicolor clarity, and I need some advice and / or information from the community.
But first, why would this question pop into my head in the first place? I mean, I'm alert to the existence of the subconscious, and it's quite possible that I have deep, deep repressions that -- like all repressions after Freud -- return with a vengeance, and inspire me to articulate nonsense queries with no basis in fact, reason, or common sense. So maybe there's that, self-loathing that I (by definition) don't recognize as such, etc.
A more likely reason this question popped into my head, however, is because a great, big, red-white-and-blue advertisement asked me this selfsame question on the upper-right corner of my DailyKos screen when I arrived a few moments ago. An advertisement! As a significant thinker asked many years ago, What is to be Done? Yes, yes, I know that the real thing to do is to subscribe so that I don't have to bother, but more immediately...
Should one click on the ad, take the poll, and simultaneously divert 1/10 of a penny from those dipshits at the National Organization for Marriage directly into Kos' koffers? I honestly don't know how such revenue streams flow, whether this mysteriously gives Kos a penny but gets the NOM a dime from the Koch brothers, whether history will record me as being the kind of person who takes polls on the web, etc.
Quick advice would be appreciated. And also, NOM, for the record: I would never advise anyone, gay or straight, on the question of whether or not they should get married. That's between them, their tax preparer, and their feelings about in-laws who bogart the sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving. I do, however, strongly advise you and your members to fuck yourselves. Forthwith.
