I believe I see Willard Mitt Romney for what he really is and what the Republican Party is doing.
Last night I watched “The Men Who Built America” on the History Channel. It was about the rise of John Rockefeller. Granted he was a genius in creating wealth and you can say ‘jobs’. But the underlying current in this semi-documentary that I picked up was very similar to many extremely wealthy men. They know what they need to do to win the business ‘Chess’ game. It does matter who you hurt or destroy, the object is to get to the top. Then during the program I stopped and thought how similar he drives of this nation’s richest individuals paralleled Willard Mitt Romney.
Follow more of my simple thoughts after the squiggly orange thing.
The drive of Willard Mitt Romney is truly there. He and the Republicans have assembled a machine of money like no other Presidential campaign has ever seen. The amounts are staggering and probably would reduce the unemployment rate to 2%. But this money was meant for one and only one thing. Sure the ultimate goal is to make sure Romney is the winner, but the money was to do several things.
Build the base. Control the ‘voting lambs’ and you do it through the media. It’s Madison Avenue on steroids. Talk radio – repeat the message. TV – FOX – repeat the message. The ‘voting lambs’ strangely enough use magazines for diversion so your message is not strongly used there. Newspapers in urban areas are for the management minded individuals. The most important point is to get the message to this group through stories and articles more than advertisements. Then there’s the commute. Hit everyone one with ads. On billboards, on trains, on busses, in stations. All-in-all your billion plus dollars in SuperPACs will do that.
The important part now is to “slip” your agenda in behind the smoke screen messages. Messages. Many have mocked and not enough called Romney out on the mixed messages. It’s like listening to the line in the movie ‘Chicago’, “Are you going to believe what you see, or what I’m telling you.” Prime example is how the polls are going in the “Show Me” state of Missouri. For many here at Daily Kos, they see the agenda. It’s the ‘voting lambs’ that don’t and they’re being led to slaughter.
To get back to what the parallel, Rockefeller did whatever was needed to build wealth. His own wealth. He did not pay the people (below direct management) very well. There was no strong unions for them. Working conditions were horrible. I’m sure without all the “Regulations” that have been put into place, many things could not have happened. That’s the non-regulated working environment Romney embracers. The object to work your workers to literal death at the most minimal cost is what Rockefeller and Romney are all about. The smoke screen Romney’s pushing is ‘jobs’. The result – creating millions of low wage jobs. The answer “Well you got yours jobs I promised you. So shut up.” The attitude showed itself on stage with the arrogant style Romney has. The ultimate was when show piece in “The Men Who Built America” was when Rockefeller went after Smith over the transportation of Rockefeller’s Kerosene. Smith started building a pipeline and Rockefeller saw it as War. So he shut down his refineries in Pittsburg, putting thousands out of work. His forced Smith, who relied on 40% of his business on transporting Rockefellers Kerosene on the Penn rail line. This caused Smith to layoff workers which ultimately caused riot and destruction of Penn rail’s train yard buildings and hundreds of rail cars.
The point is, when the wealthy rule, the middle class and poor pay the ultimate cost. Romney talks about building businesses. He isn’t talking about, accountants, nurses, teachers, sales people, truck drivers, carpenters, steel workers, miners, masons, roofers, healthcare workers, etc. His mentality is to build your own business. He can’t wrap his brain around non-entrepreneurial jobs. He just doesn’t understand. The result will be destruction of the American middle class and a lifestyle similar to life between 1870-1910.
So my fear. The Republicans bring in their radical base, followed by the sacrificial ‘voting lambs’ they’re leading to slaughter, followed by the wealth and their family followers and last but not least the fanatical Southern right wingers to vote. Oh, and to bring this one too close to home people like my wife, who is voting Republican ‘cause that’s he way my family always voted. Unfortunately, she’s out of touch and has never seen the radical change the Republican party has made since 1964. Because they are worse today than they were in 1964.
That’s what goes through my tiny mind and that’s what scares me about Romney.
I’ve been on Daily Kos for five or six years. Out of fear never wrote a diary. I’ve gotten the courage and have written two. This is my third, for what it’s worth.
