From Talking Points Memo:
"You know, this is that issue for that every candidates for federal, or even state office, faces. And I, too, certainly stand for life," said Mourdock, after both Democrat Joe Donnelly and Libertarian Andrew Horning had identified as pro-life. "I know there are some who disagree, and I respect their point of view. But I believe that life begins at conception. The only exception I have, to have an abortion, is in that case of the life of the mother."
Mourdock then seemed to choke back tears, and continued: "I've struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen." (Emphasis added.)
We understand that abortion is difficult issue for many people. However, we cannot understand all the talk of rape lately. Rape is not a difficult issue for anyone. Rape is bad, never good, and really shouldn't a topic in a political debate unless crime is the topic.
As for Richard Mourdock, he doesn't seem to understand that being raped does equal getting a gift from god. It never ever equals. It's almost as if these people have never had a conversation with a woman. Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin and Mr. Mourdock should hold hands, which would make them uncomfortable, and go off to that place where retired politicians go and never ever come back. These two guys couldn't hold an actual job.
Well one person seems comfortable, not comfortable with the comments, but with Mr. Mourdock:
The team is hoping that god intended Mr. Mourdock to lose, but of course, the team doesn't believe that god gives a crap about petty politics.
