I don't post here often, but certain things I have seen and read recently coming from the Obama campaign has left me feeling somewhat, shall we say, uninspired? After two wonderful debate performances, there are still a number of issues that the President has not fully addressed. There's a certain something missing in his speeches and interviews which I hope to see him rectify in the home stretch. Go below the squiggly for more.
Yes Mr. President, we know.
Your list of accomplishments is impressive to anyone who is not devoid of rational thought.
You ended the war in Iraq.
You saved the American auto industry.
You ensured fair pay regardless of gender.
You ended Don't ask, Don't tell.
You passed the biggest healthcare reform in decades.
You got motherf*ckin Osama Bin Laden.
We got it. Impressive.
But the thing is, we're already on board.
Everyone who knows the president's accomplishments is a part of his base. Now, don't get me wrong, there's a lot to be said for energizing your base and giving them a list of reasons to point to to vote for Obama again. But that's only one part of it, as everyone is well aware.
After all the hullabaloo caused by the Des Moines register over their interview with Obama, the Obama team decided to release the interview themselves. It was all fine. No controversies, just the president further touting his record as a reason that the paper should endorse him. And a persuasive arguement was made based solely on his record. But there's the rub.
My question to the president would be, "Mr. Obama, we know your record, we're proud of what you've managed to do, and we know you're a man of your word (for the most part), but what are your promises for the next year, two years, four years? You fulfilled a number of your campaign promises from the last election, so what can you offer the American people right now?"
I know that the man does have a plan.
We here understand the proposals that Obama has pushed for and will continue to push for.
But it seems that team O has failed to present these ideas to the voters effectively. They've been hammering away at the message of "my record speaks for itself."
But for a lot of people, it just doesn't.
In an economy where the majority of people still aren't feeling the effects of recovery, saying "hey, I did good, just trust me" won't really work. America has given him the benefit of the doubt, and acknowledged that hestemmed the tide.
But now is the time to tell them how we move forward, not just that we will.
All that said, I'm still fired up, and I hope you are too.
So let's get out there and tell people what he will do.
How we will succeed.
9:42 AM PT: Wow, I again just would like to extend a giant F*ck you to all the commenters on this post.
I remind you, this is not an attack. I know the presidents policies, so thanks to the helpful individuals who posted a link to his damn website.
I was making an observation of the optics of the race based on what I'm hearing from uninformed americans. It's a simple suggestion. In no way am I saying the president doesn't have a plan, just that he needs to make it more apparent to average americans.
And to the grammar nazis, there, I fixed the damn title.
