When I met my boyfriend he was of libertarian bent. When I say "libertarian", I mean real libertarian, which is self-serving but so weak and incomplete a philosophy that it is not hard to dissuade someone who is on the wrong end of the wealth continuum that they're doing something wrong to support it. Since he was a 99er, and I can put forward good arguments, that wasn't hard to do.
I contrast this with the fascists who pretend to be libertarians, but that's a different story.
He was still opposed to many of Obama's policies, though, and was planning on writing in someone else as a protest.
Sometimes you can throw away your vote as a protest if you live in a state where the total is essentially already decided, and it won't actually affect the election.
But he early voted for Obama, because it matters. A vote for anyone but Obama is a vote for Romney, and it is unthinkable what would become of America if Romney and the Republicans had control of the country for 4 years.
