Jonathan Capehart makes that clear in this at the Washington Post. His beginning makes it clear:
My mother taught me to respect my elders. But after hearing what John Sununu said about Gen. Colin Powell’s endorsement of President Obama, I have to let ’er rip. Sununu is a race-baiting buffoon.
Of course, as Capehart notes, African-Americans should be proud of Obama. OF course, I am white, and although I am critical of some things about this President, I am also proud of what he has accomplished.
Let me offer Capehart's final two paragraphs as well:
By Sununu’s logic, Obama’s eroding support among white voters is due to white people being proud that “somebody of your own race” is running for president. It’s an ugly notion that Eugene Robinson forces us to confront in his terrific column today.
This isn’t the first time Sununu has engaged in race-baiting banter. Earlier this month, he called the president "lazy." In July, he charged, “I wish this president would learn how to be an American.” To be perfectly blunt, I wish Sununu would learn to shut up.
Actually, I hope Sununu keeps it up, so everyday we can challenge Mitt Romney on why this buffoon is still his national campaign co-chair, why Sununu is still acceptable as his surrogate.
Or as Charles Blow so aptly conclude: Remember: A man is known by the company he keeps. And Mitt Romney keeps company with a named John Sununu.
